I think this is the fourth time I have seen this checked in and reverted 
again. This doesn't work, and even without a crystal ball I'll bet it's 
not the last time we've seen this.

Cornelius, could you give a summary of the problem here? You're the one 
that seem to understand what the problem is. With the problem described, 
perhaps someone can come up with a solution. Staying with a deprecated 
method does not seem like a viable solution to me.

Either setActiveWindow must be undeprecated again, or an alternative must 
be made. Or perhaps there already is a solution that we just don't know 
about.
