<!DOCTYPE html><html><head><title></title></head><body><div>Hey Friends!</div><div><br></div><div>We're really excited to see you next week! We have a few housekeeping notes:</div><div><br></div><div><b>Costs and Lunches and Donations:</b> Akademy runs on volunteers and donations to cover the cost of the event. We are asking for lunch donations of 10€/day. We will have Paypal QR codes at the info desk so you can donate online too. For the daytrip, The museum entrance cost is 11€ (7€ reduced)/per adult.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Event food expectations: </b>KDE will cover finger food and snacks for the welcome & social events and provide coffee & lunch on the weekend. There are many restaurants and Döner shops near each event location if more sustenance is needed. KDE is <i>not </i>providing food for the Day trip or queer event (but there will be plenty of food options available).</div><div><br></div><div><b>As always, no one will be turned away for lack of funds! </b>Reach out to the team if you need help and we can sort it out.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Social Event Capacity: </b>We have a capacity limit of 120 people for c-base. If more than that show up for the event (which is welcome) we will have the overflow meet at the <a href="https://strandhaus-berlin.de/en/gestrandet-mitte/">Strand Biergarten</a> right across the river, only a 10 minute walk away. We will enjoy the Berlin sunset and can stagger adventuring groups to the hackerspaceship. Thank you in advance for your flexibility, we want to make sure everyone has a good time and opportunity to hang out with each other <i>and </i>experience c-base. :)</div><div><br></div><div><b>Getting Around</b></div><div><br></div><div>Check out the <a href="https://akademy.kde.org/2025/travel/"><b>Travel</b></a> page for more info about bus lines and train tickets to get to the venue and around Berlin.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Navigating the Venue</b></div><div><br></div><div>This year Akademy will be <a href="https://akademy.kde.org/2025/venue/">spread across several floors</a>, we will have signs throughout the <a href="https://osm.org/go/0MZu16uzG--?m=&relation=3348239">campus' main building</a> and volunteers to guide you (there are elevators)! The keynotes will be on floor 1 with the hangout spaces on floor 2 during the weekend, and we will be between the 2nd and 3rd floors during the week. If you get lost, poke me (@mxdarkwater) in the Akademy Attendees channel.</div><div><br></div><div><b>During the Event</b></div><div><br></div><div>Like every year, we will have a set of<b> red lanyards for attendees who prefer not to be photographed</b> without being asked directly, just pick one at the info desk when you get your badge. <i>*If you wear a red lanyard and choose to be in the group photo (that will be posted publicly) you will not be edited out!</i></div><div><br></div><div>This is your reminder to plan your BoFs! There are only a few open slots (and I hope to see a lot of you at the 2nd annual sticker BoF on Thursday morning!) so if you have a time you want, get in there!</div><div><br></div><div>Of course, like the <a href="https://community.kde.org/Akademy/2025#Birds_of_a_Feather_(BoF)_sessions,_workshops,_and_meetings">BoF wiki</a>, the <a href="https://community.kde.org/Akademy/2025#Be_a_volunteer">volunteer shift</a> wiki will be available to add yourself to all week. <b>We still need some session chairs, speaker's support, and info desk handlers.</b></div><div><br></div><div>Additionally, <b>Akademy is hosting an End of 10 Linux install event on Thursday evening</b>. If you're in town and want to introduce Berliners to KDE or learn how to run an install event of your own when you go back home, make sure you <a href="https://community.kde.org/Akademy/2025/volunteers-2025-09-11">sign up to volunteer on Thursday</a>.</div><div><br></div><div>We have a bonus mission for everyone - Akademy needs pictures (or it didn't happen)! Please take photos (with consent of everyone in the shot!) during the week and use the #akademy2025 tag when you share it to your favorite websites.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Akademy 2026?!</b></div><div><br></div><div>By popular demand we have opened the call for hosts for next year already! If you have questions about what it takes to run Akademy, this event is the time to talk with the team (we'll be wearing orange lanyards) about all the nitty gritty details that go into it and see how it's done close up and personal. <a href="https://akademy.kde.org/news/2025-07_akademy-2026-call-for-hosts/">Check out the call for hosts</a> for more details!</div><div><br></div><div>Travel safe and see you soon!</div><div><br></div><div>-- </div><div> Kieryn Darkwater</div><div>They/Them</div></body></html>
