Well is this lag specific to the memory activity or global. I mean do
you experience it also at GCompris startup.

Concerning the memory, yes we made some changes in 8.4.12:
* src/boards/memory.c: (sound_callback): Hopefully fixed a race in which
tux could play several time alone or stop after a single play.

Maybe there is a corner case that we have not taken in account.

Seems it global. Other activity have delay too.
On other activity less considerably.

Is there any way to change the order in which the groups of boards
appear in the left hand column in 8.4.12?  I'm aware that I can
selectively hide boards or groups with the administration mode
"gcompris -a".  I want to change the order in which the groups appears
in the left hand column.  For example, I want computer discovery to be
at the top.

Hi,

Sadly no. By the way the order is different depending on 'the wind
side'. I have always wanted to add a fixed order but never found time to
do so.

If someone is willing to provide a patch (on the gcomprixogoo branch) it
is welcome. We could just add a 'position' in our xml menu files and use
it at menu display time.

I've been trying to compile various versions of gcompris under Ubuntu
8.04 off and on for a while now.  I've been able to compile 8.4.12
successfully, but I've ran into a problem with the current head of
gcomprixogoo:

I've taken a look at the code and I think the problem is actually
related to add_points().  A local variable points is created which
could be returned uninitialized if the diametre < targetDefinition is
always false.  GCC can't tell if this ever happens and assumes that
add_points returns a random value.  The thing is that add_points is
only called from animate_items which promptly discards the return
value of add_points anyway so in some sense it doesn't matter.  On the
other hand, the same code in 8.4.12 declares add_points() as void.
It's not clear why the change to return an unused value was made in
the source code in the first place.

Git blame seems seems to show the following:

c682a381 src/target-activity/target.c (Bruno Coudoin 2009-01-18
23:28:50 +0000 607) .....

as the commit that introduced the change.   Are there some pending
changes which will cause the return value of add_point() to matter?

In the meantime, can someone suggest how to change the configuration
system to not pass -Werror on the command line to gcc so it will
ignore (this apparently
spurious warning) rather then treat it as an error and exit.

It appears that the Babytoy theme has not been carried over to the
gcomprixogoo branch.  Is this something that just involves some
mindless copying/reformatting
or will icons/images have to be redrawn?  If it's a mindless task, I'm
willing to do the work if someone can give me some instructions on the
steps required.

Yes, I'm replying to my own message.  I managed to get gcomprixogoo to
compile by editing configure.in, removing all references to -Werror
and restarting the build process from the beginning (autogen.sh).  I
don't think this is the right
way to fix this problem, but it did allow me to finish the build.  The
resulting binary runs and a brief test of the target
activity seems to work fine.

Well, the skin system has been completely reworked. Now there is a
single svg file that contains all the images GCompris will use for
the skin. It makes it much easier to create a new skin.

Today there is only a black theme. We could very easily edit the
skin.svg file and replace the black by red to bring the babytoy back to
life.

If there are inspired graphic artist over there, you can have a look
here at the file skin.svg and propose us an original theme for the next
major release of GCompris :

Hi,

Obviously the compile is right. No idea why I don't get this error as
well. This is fixed now.

By thr way, I am glad to see someone trying the gcomprixogoo branch. Let
me know if it works for you. So far I never got too much feedback on it.
What your plan, are you just trying it ?
