Hi Frank,<div><br></div><div>Did you tried stopping services as app-armour and the firewall? I remember install freenx on a opensuse 11.3 in virtual box and problems were always the security.</div><div><br></div><div>Actually freenx it's easier to install in ubuntu using the ppa (karmic version ppa works better in 10.04/10.10 than the newer ones). </div>
<div><br></div><div>You can try also x2go. Its similar and its alive (freenx looks like really dead)</div><div><br></div><div>Sorry I can't help you.</div><div><br></div><div>Regards,</div><div>Ricardo</div><div><br><br>

Hello,<br>
<br>
I installed FreeNX from the SUSE repository, but I can't manage to get it working. I've googled, checked and tested so many things; in my old 11.0 installation FreeNX was a pure delight over years ...<br>
<br>
I did the normal installation .. nxsetup, add a user .. without success.<br>
<br>
Then I changed the log-level and had an error. I use the german packages, so I get an error "rdesktop -- ungültige Option -o" (unknown option -o, like Daniel and Kai here <a href="http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/freenx-knx/2008-September/007391.html" target="_blank">http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/freenx-knx/2008-September/007391.html</a>).<br>
<br>
In my installation I don' have the option to change to nxdesktop or nxviewer, these are not part of the package. I already tried to symlink to nxagent, as it was in older installations .. without success.<br>
<br>
BTW: When I try to connect with vnc, I get a similar message ... unknown option.<br>
<br>
I found out (google) that the permission on the /var/lib/nxserver was not correctly set. Now nx is the owner of this directory.<br>
<br>
What I did next is, to look into the nxagent source and found a line with the rdesktop command. The line is abbreviated "rdesktop -option xy". Yes, the rdesktop man page shows no parameter -o ... I tried to hack the script and changed is to something like rdesktop myserver. With this one, I got an window, but it stops answering, it get no respone.<br>
<br>
I did several other things, that I don't remember. In the end I don't know, how to get FreeNX working ...<br>
<br>
Can someone out there help me? Is there anybody, who got it working under 11.3? Do I have the chance to get other packages (perhaps from Ubuntu), or do I have to build it from the sources? Is there an alternative project, on Berlios, there are no changes since 2008 .. ?<br>
<br>
Frank<br>
