That directory existed already

No need, I found only DISPLAY=":$display" in nxnode.

However, now the DISPLAY=:1000 xterm doesn't work anymore. I have no
clue why. Anyway, I did a reboot
on the server and tried to connect again. Everything as before, however,
the session file now looks like

NXPROXY - Version 3.0.0

Seems OK, however, the X11 forwarding was different before (:12:0, which
is also the display when
I connect with ssh, i.e. localhost:12:0). (when I connect
to a different nxserver I get the :0.0 as well for a working connection
in the sessions file)

When I do now a

$ su - user
$ DISPLAY=:1000 xterm

I get the error

xterm Xt error: Can't open display: :1000

I have no idea why it worked before. I didn't change any configuration
files.
