Hm I get only error meassages by using your first suggested command:

# /usr/sbin/sshd -v -v -v
sshd: illegal option -- v
OpenSSH_4.3p2, OpenSSL 0.9.8b 04 May 2006
usage: sshd [-46Ddeiqt] [-b bits] [-f config_file] [-g login_grace_time]
            [-h host_key_file] [-k key_gen_time] [-o option] [-p port]
[-u len]
#

For your second option, according to the locate function I do not have
any sshd.log on FC6.
tail command worked but as expected, I did get the same error massage as
i could not change the
log level.
Sorry but it seems i am missing a while lot here.
