Sure thing, automatic writing of kdeprintrc is _not_ done by default. As 
stated in the Release notice of 0.4.0 this has to be activated first:

Change the following in node.conf:

# FreeNX with ENABLE_KDE_CUPS="1" will automatically write·
# $KDE_PRINTRC and put the current used port into it.
# $KDE_PRINTRC is automatically calculated if its not set.

ENABLE_KDE_CUPS="1"
#KDE_PRINTRC="$KDEHOME/share/config/kdeprintrc"
#CUPS_ETC="/etc/cups"

Its not default, because we as a software vendor should never write into any 
files the user might have created, but you as a local administrator can of 
course setup this behaviour.

@Oliver: Could you add this information to a FAQ/ Troubleshooting database or 
so?
