<pre>There are couple of reasons. One of them being that IrfanView which I use extensively does not display xmp information for tif and RAW files. It does so only for jpg files. The other reason being that most of my jpg files which I obtained from different editing programs do not have the xmp data.
So just to keep consistency I wanted to remove it from all the jpg files and not write to new ones tagged in digiKam. Also, the sheer variations in different xmp tags (ACDSee, Acrobat, Microsoft, Photoshop) is bewildering! Isn't there something which is not proprietary and still well accepted? Can digiKam handle this
tag if it exists?
More importantly, is there a batch mode where all the IPTC tags get copied to xmp tags?
My tagging requirement is very simple!

<pre>No, this configuration is currently not possible, I think we already have a bug
report as a request. Why don't you want to write XMP metadata to JPG? You
should generally write XMP, because only here are there metadata tags (digiKam
Tagslist and LR TagsList), which also make it possible to save the tag path.
This is not possible with IPTC. In case you need to restore the tags from the
images, your tag hierarchy may not be restored.
