    <pre>Thanks. Can this be done for each file format separately? I would like to write these xmp tags for only my RAW files. I do not want to write xmp tags for jpg or tif. Is that possible or asking for too much?! 

You can configure which tags digiKam reads or writes in the advanced metadata settings.
