I’m no expert but for me, this is working. I shoot mainly wildlife and some landscape, so I have top level folders for the types of wildlife, I.e. birds, mammals, reptiles,…. Then under those I get a little more specific. I haven’t found the need to do a date oriented structure with digiKam’s ability to search by date.
