Thanks for the tip. I've been using 6.4 to curate a large collection of digitized slides and prints. It has been/is working perfectly for that task. I simply haven't thought about updating. That said I also appreciate the development and fixes of new versions.

my first question is, why are you still on digiKam-6.4.0? We are now about to <br>
release digiKam-7.2.0 (<a href="https://files.kde.org/digikam/">https://files.kde.org/digikam/</a>). Windows support in

particular has also been significantly improved in the 7.x.x versions.<br>
<br>
To your question: Simply select in the metadata settings for sidecar that you <br>
only have sidecar files for items that can only be read. Read only does not <br>
only mean files that are write-protected, but also RAW files.<br>
