I am not sure the issue is Baloo related.

I am running DK 4.14.0 on KDE4 (openSUSE 13.2)
Baloo Metadata interface NOT activated.

Twice now I have had this happen

import two picture files into a sib-album from hard disc

Both imported images appear in the sub-album (thumbnails
        appear)

Open one of the two files with DK image editor.

Make some changes, such as crop or Enhance Image

Save changes.

The modified image thumbnail visible now in the sub album

BUT, the second image (still and original)has disappeared from
        the sub-album thumbnail display.

So after documenting this I had an idea; went into configure
digikam and selected (checked) "Always show original images" in
      the
Editing Images-In Main View menu.
Now I see both original images again.
If I edit the second (had disappeared) original and save it, then
De-Select "Always show original images" box, I see both changed
      images.

A guess - something is borked in the database representation of
what the original image is. ?
