Thanks: it is helpful to know you're running DK 4.5 on a similar system. In fact, my laptop is running Mint 17.1 and Digikam 4.0.0 without complaining - but it only has a dozen photos to handle, and there isn't room to install my photo collection on the laptop, even if I wanted to.<br>

and ppa:philip5/kubuntu-backports)<u></u>, I've again reinstalled Digikam - but still only get 4.0.0 (with KDE 4.14.2)- and still it won't open any image folders, and won't show any images, JPEG or RAW.<br>

Using right click on a folder (where I know there are images) or the menu item 'open in file manager' just crashes the program.<br>
