Thanks for the update and all your efforts, Gilles.

While I applaud with Anders' intent, I would probably opt for what we have currently, incremental "production" releases with perhaps a few buglets.
When something really goes poorly, one can easily(usually) back up to a prior "more acceptable" release.
An issue I would have with "testing" releases would be that it almost requires a dedicated machine (or perhaps a dedicated VM) to test in parallel while running a "production" environment as well. Keeping releases isolated on the same machine is difficult(IMHO)

yes both have a problem.

In fact in 3.2 a long time problem have been present in plugins init.

In 3.3 i fixed some type of plugins, but i forget to check all others,
thinking that will be fine. My apologies.

I review whole implementation relevant of all plugins init and removed
all time latencies and race conditions. I checked all on slow and
speed computers. All is fine now.
But will everything work? With 3.2, there was some issues, and there are also
some with 3.3. Can we users help by testing up to the release?
It appears to me that digikam seems to have issues in each release, that
are already fixed for the next. Maybe a small beta or rc period would be
nice?>
I have recently updated my openSUSE 12.3/KDE 4.10.5 machine to DigiKam
3.3.0.

I find that frequently the Edit-Enhance-Local Contrast tool hangs or
fails
to initialize.
I see no progress in the lower left corner of the window.

Interestingly, Local Contrast runs fine on the same image using the
Batch
Queue Manager.
And, I believe, it runs much faster.
Any thoughts or similar results?
