I have:</span><br><span></span><br><span>Kubuntu 11.10</span><br><span>KDE 4.7.4</span><br><span>Digikam 2.1.1</span><br><span></span><br><span>This is the default install with the kubuntu distro. I have now looked at three different versions of the documentation:</span><br><span></span><br><span>1. One local which shows as version 1.2 (Revision 1.2 (2010-02-20)</span><br><span>2. One found on <a href="http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/index.html" x-apple-data-detectors="true" x-apple-data-detectors-result="3">http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/index.html</a>, also version 1.2</span><br><span>3. One from the <a href="http://digikam.org/" x-apple-data-detectors="true" x-apple-data-detectors-result="5">digikam.org</a> website <a href="http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/digikam.pdf" x-apple-data-detectors="true" x-apple-data-detectors-result="6">http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/digikam.pdf</a>(which does not provide a version)</span><br><span></span><br><span>All three describe Identity settings one can use to tag images imported into digikam:</span><br><span></span><br><span><quote></span><br><span>Automatic metadata generation</span><br><span></span><br><span>How to go about all this metadata business? Firstly, there are already a lot of automatically generated metadata: EXIF data and Makernotes. If you have configured digiKam with your identity section all imported images will be imprinted with this data set which includes copyrights, all automatic.</span><br><span></quote></span><br><span></span><br><span>This metadata is set via the Settings -> Configure menu, e.g.,</span><br><span></span><br><span><a href="http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/using-setup.html#author-identity" x-apple-data-detectors="true" x-apple-data-detectors-result="7">http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/using-setup.html#author-identity</a></span><br><span></span><br><span>This has a screen shot that clearly shows an Identity section (and I assume that all of this documentation is referring to this exact section).</span><br><span></span><br><span>I very much want to use this ... yet my installed digikam does not have it! I see this set of options on my Configure window:</span><br><span></span><br><span>Database</span><br><span>Collections</span><br><span>Album View</span><br><span>Album Category</span><br><span>Tool-Tip</span><br><span>Metadata</span><br><span>Templates</span><br><span>MIME Types</span><br><span>Editor Window</span><br><span>Editing Images</span><br><span>RAW Decoding</span><br><span>Saving Images</span><br><span>Color Management</span><br><span>Light Table</span><br><span>Slide Show</span><br><span>Cameras</span><br><span>Kipi Plugins</span><br><span>Miscellaneous</span><br><span></span><br><span>But no Identity.</span><br><span></span><br><span>I've tried using the philips PPA to get the latest and hoping thereby to get a version of digikam with this missing Identity option, but there were numerous issues with dependencies and a conflict with an existing installed library and after several hours wrestling with it removed the PPA and reverted to the default digikam. Note that digikam works very well and it's only this one feature, so far as I can tell, that is lacking.</span><br><span></span><br><span>I also searched the digikam-users list archives going back 1.5 years and no posts include 'identity' in the subject line, so perhaps I am the first (?!?) to see this.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Anyone have any ideas either how to fix this lack or some workflow that uses other options to set these Identity metadata values.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Also, if I have no Identity configuration option, how can I apply this same type of Metadata to my existing library?</span><br><span></span><br><span>My thanks in advance.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Guy</span><br><span></span><br><span>-- </span><br><span>"There is only love, and then oblivion.
