<pre wrap="">libkipi8 4:4.6.5~natty~ppa1 is part of my latest update of kdegraphics
in my "extra" PPA. It's rebuild with updated libkipi and to use exiv2
0.22 in all the kdegraphics parts. I'm not going into what I think
happened with libkipi8 before when digikam didn't work but you got the
wrong versions of the package. Now I works as it should for all of you
(hopefully).
Happy digikaming!

I am using KDE 4.6.5 from ubuntu natty updates and have tried with libkipi
versions 4.6.2 (from your ppa philip) and v. 4.6.5 (from natty updates).
Both result in digikam 2.2 aborting after splashscreen with the above error
messages.
Now I just figured out that digikam 2.2 starts clean with the third version
of libkipi8 I found in my repos: I now use 4.6.5 (from natty ppa:
4:4.6.5~natty~ppa1).
Still have to check functions and stability of digikam...
Thanks, Jay.

What is the error message from digikam if you start digikam from a
terminal/shell? Are you using KDE 4.6.5 or 4.7.1?

Starting from yesterday I ran into the same problem.
Downgrading libkipi as suggest does not solve the problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, jay
