I wrote metadata to xmp, deleted the metadata from picture and
imported from xmp with very little metadata showing up under xmp
tab. Exiv, makernote and IPTC remains empty. To get it done I had to
select one photo and by hand to point to the xmp file. I can not
find a way to do it by batch for all pictures. So it might be needed
to use an other photomangement program to get the metadata back in
the photo. But according to my experience is almost all data lost.<br>

<div>Writing to xmp sidecar definitely works. I can open the xmp
file in a text editor and see the tags and rating that I created
in digikam. The problem seems to be reading this information
back from the xmp into the digikam database.</div>
