I've been faced with the same problem. The cause seems to be a conflict between digiKam theme colours and those of your window manager. <BR>

Yeah, it's frustrating. I prefer the dark digiKam themes too. However, I was able to address the problem somewhat it by fiddling with Qt4<BR>

In the Digikam themes that are dark, such as DLR and Dark, the text next to icons on the menu bar is black, which does not stand out well on the dark backgrounds.  In the theme designer I don't see any text that is set to black.  Are these text colors just coming from the default system font colors, and is there any way to change them when creating a theme?
