Opening the import window to my iPhone now generates edited photos?

Hi,

I've been importing a lot of photos from my iPhone SE (1stG) because I'd let it
fill up, and over the past few days I've started to notice a new behaviour.
Edited versions of recent photos show up in the import window that I didn't
create on my phone and that also don't seem to exist on my phone when I list the
contents via iFuse. Judging from the order in which they appear in my date-
sorted list they are generated during the metadata scan (the slow one that gets
the metadata from the files).

After import there *are* indeed 2 versions, the edited version apparently the
result of some kind of auto-level-balancing which doesn't always improve things.

What feature could I have activated that does this? What bothers me most is that
it's unclear what happens when I delete those "virtual" edited versions off my
phone, but I'd prefer to disable this behaviour.

I build most of my KDE apps myself and haven't done that for digiKam in a while
so I'm still on 7.2.0 . I did however update iPhoto2 to the latest release
versions 2-3 weeks ago. It's possible that the behaviour started after that and
that I just didn't notice it because the edited versions appeared under the
current date (and I was going to photos from the previous years).

Thanks in advance!
R.
