digikam wont start at all in KDE Fedora

The illegal instruction is beyond my knowledge to even suggest where
to look.   Searching online did bring up a bug report
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465548), now marked as solved in
digikam 8.1.0.  Of course, I have no way of knowing if this is the bug
you're experiencing.

Which version of digikam are you using?

Also, you've not answered Gilles' question (possibly because he asked in
a post responding to my previous message).  He asked;

AppImage bundle or native package?
