[digiKam-users] Find duplicates choses "reference image" seemingly at random

Hi,

I have just tried the Find duplicate images feature of DK.
DK seems to mark one photo as reference photo. However, if there are
multiple copies of the same photo and some of these are high resolution
images and other low resolution images. Or even some are high quality jpegs
and other low quality jpegs (if. compression factor of 95 vs 70). It would
make sense that DK selects the image with "most information" as the
reference image. But instead DK seems to select them at random. Often it
selects a low resolution.

Example:

In this example we have three images. 2 of them with size less than 1 MB.
The other size > 6 MB. Guess which one I want to keep... The big one, of
course. So I would expect DK to select this one as reference.

Now it is just confusing.

Hope you will consider changing this.

BR
Thomas
