[Digikam-users] new Digikam failed to migrate database: how to restore?

In the latest update of Digikam for openSUSE 12.3
(digikam-3.2.0-1.83.3) the program opens with an error message saying
that it failed to migrate the database and starts empty.

I still have the old files from a backup.
How can I restore or import the old database?
