Did you try scanModem (<a href="http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz">http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz</a>) - well, I am sure you did ;-) to find out which modem is behind there?

<div>My modem is a software modem using the sound card to emulate it. the sound card is an "ATI SB450 HDA Audio" witch is not yet supported as well like a sound card under Alsa drivers (see in google than it's experimental in Alsa source code)
