------- Additional Comments From havard tracetracker com 2006-11-28 21:00 -------
I have seen a lot of people suggest the --enable-nfs-hack as a solution, but for me (running Ubuntu) this does not seem to be available:

$ digikam --help
Usage: digikam [Qt-options] [KDE-options] [options]

A Photo-Management Application for KDE
Using Kipi library version 0.1.4

Generic options:
  --help                    Show help about options
  --help-qt                 Show Qt specific options
  --help-kde                Show KDE specific options
  --help-all                Show all options
  --author                  Show author information
  -v, --version             Show version information
  --license                 Show license information
  --                        End of options

Options:
  --detect-camera Automatically detect and open camera
  --download-from <path>    Open camera dialog at <path>

Maybe it's a compile-time option, in which case it doesn't help the average user much (if distros don't include it).

I think Fabien's suggested options are EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED. How soon can we have them? Please... :-)
