You might need some more space for your composition, or maybe trim down part of the sides. The canvas is always always a starting point to what you are modifying, it feels more natural if the crop tool automatically starts at the bounds of the canvas. It is much rarer that you need a custom drawn crop selection like is currently given. Also when determining the composition, the rule of thirds is a very common ratio. I think using that by default is a better choice for the decoration than showing nothing. </p></pre>
