You need a good gfx driver that supports the composite extension (I just
got a new nvidia card which supports these effects without even hitting
the CPU).

And then you also need my patch for kdebase/kicker, which I forgot to copy
on my notebook. I wont be able to access my desktop computer today, so
I'll post the patch here tomorrow.
