</div></div>The first thing that comes to mind is whether the file is writeable. I<br>
set Amarok to store the rating to the files, not just to the database,<br>
which of course only works if the file is writeable.<br>

Then the format might also be relevant: storing ratings works fine in<br>
file formats which have a container for it, so FLAC should be OK as it<br>
allows storing metadata in Vorbis comments format, ditto for Ogg.<br>
Other formats I am not so sure, even if MP3 supports recent ID3<br>
standards, it is de facto not a container and might have some<br>
different issues. As for Wave the amount of storable metadata is<br>
limited and done as additional chunks, not sure how much Amarok can<br>
use that or whether it is recognized.<br>
