Wheter people like the overlapping buttons or not is likely to be
highly subjective. I personally feel exactly the opposite way. I think
the buttons in the new toolbar looks much better.

I (almost) always do. The new buttons are from Nunos original mockup,
just the same as the overlapping ones.

That is not totally true as I also outlined in my original mail. All
the code for the old progress bar is still in place, and switching the
new toolbar to use the old progress slider is a one line fix. So using
the old slider with the new toolbar is also an option.

In any case, I'll mark this down as one for the old toolbar as it was
before any of my experimentation.
