i try not to get involved in air-chair pixel-direction, so i'll just offer a 
reminder of a few target principles:

* the different plasma form factors (desktop, netbook, tablet, ...) should 
look like they belong together. the more different these elements are between 
devices, the more that effect is eroded. so, e.g., if we have more rectangular 
buttons on the desktop, let's track that direction on the tablet

* less is more. the heavier the chrome is, the harder it will be for content 
to shine through. buttons and inputs that are visually lighter and have fewer 
distinct elements should make for a calmer result.
