it should work "out of the box" assuming that all relevant dbusmenu patches 
are applied (i believe Qt itself needs to be patched to make it work, which is 
unfortunate).

otherwise, all that would be needed to make it fully Active is to provide a 
QML UI (which could be done from the existing C++ applet code).

that said, i rather like the idea of a little menu button (there's a fairly 
standard icon for that on devices these days) appearing in the top bar when an 
app provides/requires a menu.
